Hello, I'm Erica Hermans
School Board Region 3

I have worked in the financial services industry for close to 20 years. Over 15 of these years have been focused on Organizational Learning and Development (L&D). I believe all students are entitled to a superior education that builds transferable life- and career-readiness skills and experiences, and my expertise in L&D has shown me this firsthand. As an L&D specialist, I have developed and facilitated classes on a variety of critical initiatives to help adults advance in their careers. I have built and delivered programs on investments-related topics, professional development skills, DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion), and business-specific programs to name a few.

I am excited to help shape Spring-Ford’s curriculums to effectively prepare our children for an increasingly competitive and changing job market. As a School Board Director, I will be open to understanding the many varied approaches to enhance our children’s K-12 experience. I will do the research necessary and partner with administrators, teachers, staff, and the community to understand the feasibility of implementing these approaches to our children’s education and how it will fuel their success post-graduation.

On a personal note, I have lived in the Spring-Ford Area School District for 14 years. Today, I reside in Limerick Township with my husband and young 2 children, both who attend Spring-Ford. I also have a stepson who recently graduated from Albright College with a degree in Theater. In my spare time, I enjoy volunteering in our district at Home & School Association events and leading a Girl Scout Troop of fabulous 6th graders.

Who I am
  • Experienced Corporate Learning & Development professional with facilitation, program design, and project management expertise.

  • Eighteen years of experience in the financial services industry, licensed and registered.

  • Holds a B.S in Management Science & Information Systems from Penn State University.

  • Involved Girl Scout Troop Leader and community volunteer.

  • Active and engaged parent volunteer in the Spring-Ford Area School District.

  • Dedicated wife and mother to three children, two of whom are current district students.

If elected to the Board, I will act as a representative for the community, demonstrating accessibility, transparency, responsibility, and fairness.

  • Restore Trust: I will analyze issues thoroughly to gather the best information, clearly communicate my position, and keep the commitments I make to families, students and staff. Board members should be able to plainly express a position on a topic so that the community knows where they stand. I will not be fearful of being transparent because of how decisions may or may not be received.

  • Promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: I will be a reliable voice in driving true and measurable equity for all families in our district and advocate for meaningful dialogue that fosters inclusion in our schools.

  • Demonstrate Financial Responsibility: With 18 years of experience in the financial services industry, I will bring a renewed scrutiny to how money is being spent and be a responsible steward of the district’s assets.

  • Lead with Humility: I will not lose sight of the fact that it is a privilege to be elected by the Spring-Ford community. As a result, I will always treat others, regardless of status or position, with fairness and respect. I will act with the professional maturity and dignity that the position requires. School Board Directors need to lead by and set a positive example.
