Hello, I'm Karen Weingarten
School Board Region 1

I’m running for the Region 1 seat on the Spring-Ford School Board representing Upper Providence, Mingo 1, Mingo 2, and Mont Clare.

I decided to run for the role of School Board Director because I am committed to improving the quality of education in our district, can rebuild the trust that our community deserves from our Board, can improve communication channels, and I have the confidence and experience to make decisions.

I am an expert in strategic planning and digital communications, with a background in instructional design. I have taught IT project management and design courses at the college level. These experiences ensure that I have the skills necessary to incorporate the needs and priorities of the district into strong policies.

My husband, Kevin, and I are parents to three active Spring-Ford students: 9th grade twins - son and daughter, and our 8th grade son. We spend quite a bit of time coordinating schedules and cheering our kids on from the lacrosse fields, scout adventures, or at competitive cheerleading competitions.

I am a dedicated, passionate Bloomsburg University alumna. For eight years, I served as the Committee Chair and Founder for Bloomsburg University Greek Alumni Advisory Council. We formalized a network of 10,000+ alumni and advisors with the university to spearhead efforts around special events, scholarships, fundraising, and defining formal, effective processes for the student organizations. You can often find me on the agenda as a guest panelist for their Zeigler College of Business.

I proudly served as the Committee Chair and Den Leader for our local Cub Scout Pack 7155/531 for many years. Our Pack resides at Upper Providence Elementary School.
